This message means you've done your part and Google is reviewing it. Your profile stays hidden from customers until that review clears. Google says verification review takes up to 5 business days, and sometimes it's instant. The single most important thing while you wait is to leave the profile alone, because edits can restart the review and a new postcard request cancels the code already in the mail. If you're past 7 business days, there's a specific check that tells you whether you're stuck in a real queue or hit a known display glitch. For clients on our Google Business Profile management plans, we track profiles sitting in review and run that check ourselves once the window passes, so you're not left refreshing a dashboard. If we don't have access yet, send a screenshot and we'll tell you whether you're waiting or stuck.

TL;DR

  • Up to 5 business days is Google's stated review window once you've finished your step.

  • Don't edit anything while it processes. Name, address, category, and hours changes can send you back to the start.

  • Don't request another postcard. Doing that cancels the code already mailed to you. Codes expire after 30 days.

  • Past 7 business days, check the verification status tool. If it says verified while your dashboard says processing, that's a glitch and not a delay.

  • A glitch needs a support ticket, not more patience. We can raise that for you.

  • Your reviews and photos are fine. They're stored on the profile and appear once it publishes.

Why the profile is hidden while it processes

Google won't show a business to customers until it's confident the business is real and that the person managing it is authorized. Verification is that check. Until it clears, the profile exists in your account but not in Search or Maps.

Nothing is wrong at this stage. You're in a queue.

How long it should take

Google's documented window is up to 5 business days after you complete the verification steps. Some profiles verify instantly.

Two things stretch that window in practice. Postcards have to physically arrive before you can enter the code, which adds mailing time on top of the review. And re-verifications triggered by a change to an existing profile sometimes take longer than a first-time verification.

Business days matter here. Five business days across a holiday weekend is nine calendar days.

The rules while you wait

Don't edit the profile. Changing your business name, address, primary category, or hours during review can restart the queue. Some edits also trip an automated flag, which turns a short wait into a suspension.

Don't request a new postcard. Google is direct about this one. Requesting a new code invalidates the one already in the mail and makes the whole process longer. If a postcard hasn't arrived yet, wait. Codes expire 30 days after they're issued, so you have room.

Don't start a second verification method. Pick the one Google offered and finish it.

Don't create a second profile. A duplicate turns a waiting problem into a suspension problem.

If your postcard genuinely never shows up, we have a separate article on that: Google PIN not arriving at my location.

Past 7 business days? Run this check

There's a known issue where your dashboard keeps saying "processing" long after Google has actually finished verifying you. The two systems fall out of sync. Waiting longer won't fix it, because from Google's side you're already done.

Here's how to tell the difference:

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages the profile.

  2. Open the verification status tool.

  3. Compare what it says against your dashboard.

Both say processing. You're in a genuine queue. Keep waiting, and don't touch the profile.

Tool says verified, dashboard says processing. The two are out of sync. This is a display problem on Google's end, not a review still running. It needs a support ticket to clear, and it won't resolve on its own.

Tool says unverified or needs verification. Something didn't go through. You'll need to start verification again, and the status tool itself offers a route into Google support where you can attach proof.

Send us a screenshot of both screens and we'll take it from there.

If verification comes back unsuccessful

Video verification is where most home services businesses land, and it's also where most retries happen. What Google expects depends on your business type: a storefront or hybrid needs permanent signage on the building, while a service-area business shows branded vehicles, tools, and a work area instead. Google usually says the attempt failed without telling you which part fell short.

The three things it wants to see are your location, your equipment, and proof you're the one running the business. Continuous recording, no cuts, no editing. Our Google Business Profile Video Verification Example walks through what a passing video looks like.

After repeated failed attempts, Google sometimes removes the self-serve options and routes you to a support form instead. That's not a dead end. See GBP Location Verification Issues - How to Contact Google.

Frequently asked questions

Can I speed it up?

Not directly. There's no queue-jumping option and no paid escalation. What you can control is not resetting the clock, which is why the "don't edit anything" rule matters more than it sounds. Finishing your step cleanly the first time is the fastest path available.

Will my reviews show up when it publishes?

Yes. Reviews attach to the profile whether or not it's publicly visible, so they appear the moment it goes live.

It said processing, and now it says suspended. What happened?

An edit made during review, or something on the profile that conflicts with Google's guidelines, moved you from one state to the other. That's a different problem with a different fix, and it needs an appeal rather than more waiting. Send it over and we'll look at what changed.

Why does my profile still not show up even though it says verified?

Verification and publication are separate steps, so there can be a short gap. Search your business name and city in an incognito window to see what customers actually see. If it's still missing several days after verifying, something else is holding it back.

We're heading into our busy season. Can this be escalated?

Not on urgency grounds. There's no priority queue and no paid escalation, and pressing on it usually means making edits, which is the one thing that genuinely does extend the wait.

What helps is planning around it. A profile in review is a profile that isn't taking calls, so if you know a change is coming, make it in your quiet months rather than three weeks before the phones start ringing. For anything already in flight, the productive move is making sure your website, your other listings, and any paid campaigns are pulling their weight while the profile is down.

Do I need to do anything while I wait?

No. That's genuinely the answer. The temptation to log in and adjust something is the main reason these get delayed.

Still stuck?

Send your account manager a screenshot of your dashboard status and the verification status tool. We'll tell you whether you're waiting or stuck, and handle the support ticket if it's the second one.
