Google Business Profile: "Further verification is required to manage your account"

If you got an email from Google that says "Further verification is required to manage your account", don't worry. This can happen from time to time as a security check. Google just needs to confirm you are the owner or manager of your business before your profile changes can show up online.

What this means for you

Your business profile might still be visible to customers, but you won't be able to update your hours, photos, or other information until you complete verification.

Google does this to protect your business from unauthorized changes by scammers or competitors.

Steps to get verified

Step 1: Make sure the email is really from Google

Before you click anything in the email, check if it looks legitimate.

Safe approach: Instead of clicking links in the email, open a new browser tab and go directly to https://business.google.com/ and sign in.

This way you know you are on the real Google site and not a fake phishing page.

Step 2: Sign in with the right Google account

Many business owners have more than one Google account (like a personal Gmail and a business email).

Make sure you log in with the account that actually manages your business listing. If you are not sure which one it is, try the email address you use most for business.

Step 3: Look for the verification message

Once logged in:

  • Select your business from the list (if you manage more than one)

  • Look for a button or message that says "Get verified" or "Verification required"

  • Click it and follow the steps Google shows you

Google will tell you which verification method is available for your business. This can be different for every business.

Step 4: Check your business information before you verify

Before you start the verification process, make sure your business details are correct:

  • Business name (exactly as it appears on your signage and paperwork)

  • Address (if you list one publicly)

  • Phone number

  • Website

If you verify with the wrong information, you might get stuck in a loop where Google keeps asking for more proof.

Verify your location via video (most common)

Video verification is now the most common method in 2026, especially for home service businesses.

We have a complete guide that walks you through exactly what to do, what to show in your video, and what documents to have ready:

What happens after verification

Once Google approves your verification:

  • You can update your hours, services, and photos again

  • You can respond to customer reviews

  • Your changes will start showing up publicly (some may take a few hours or days)

What to do if you get stuck

Here are the most common problems we see:

I can't find the verification button?

You might be logged into the wrong Google account. Try logging out and back in with a different email address that you use for business.

Google keeps asking me to verify again?

This can happen if your business information does not match your official documents. Double-check that your business name, address, and phone number and website are exactly the same everywhere.

I don't have access to the phone number or email on the account?

My verification was denied and I don't know why?

This is frustrating but fixable. Review the Updating or Adding a Physical Address to your Google Business Profile listing help doc to see common reasons for rejection and what Google looks for. Then reach out to us and we will review what happened and help you resubmit with the right information.

I already submitted a video verification. Why am I getting this email again?

There are a few reasons you might get asked to verify again even after submitting a video:

  • Your initial video was rejected - Google reviewed your video and it didn't show everything they needed. Check your email or Google Business Profile dashboard for specific reasons why it was rejected.

  • Your profile was suspended and reactivated - If your profile was temporarily disabled (due to policy violations, suspicious activity, or other issues) and then reactivated, Google may require fresh verification to restore full access.

  • You made major changes to your profile - Significant updates like changing your business name, address, phone number, or business category can trigger a new verification request.

  • Verification expired - If you started the verification process but didn't complete all the steps within Google's timeframe (usually 30 days), you'll need to start over.
